Technically, she probably isn't a very good singer, but she does have a very unique sound and she uses her voice in quite experimental ways. So even if she is out of tune, i'd much rather listen to hear than someone perfectly in tune, but not experimenting at all

I agree in that I find ni appeal of Gilli, even though the band are great

Ok, but I don't think her out of tune singing, or what's it called, bothers me at all.Instead, I'm seeing it as a new perspective in how noises and other crazy stuff can blend the music into something special.I can stand and make fart noises in the mic, while standing on a chair. Still my fart noises wil be out of tune, but the music wil have passion.

actually, I tend to not pay much attention to singing, unless it is really good, or really bad. to me, the music is much more important, but her singing, at least on this video, is really annoying me. Their studio stuff is a bit easier to take, but its not that she's not singing "clean" that Im talking about, it that she's not singing in tune, especially on the chorus of "haystacks". while angels egg was pretty good, I prefer the jazz-era stuff.

is the whole point, singing clean? You have missunderstood the whole idea of music my friend.

Gilli Smyth really can sing her voice is both diabolical and heavenly, her solo work is absolutely amazing, and she is a beautiful person both inside and out. Gong without Gilli isn't Gong anymore! Why must they pick on Gilli, why!?

that first song was pretty cool. too bad they werent better singers...it kinda took away from the music as a whole. especially gilli smith. Im sorry, but she can't sing.
