I always tried to whistle this song. I was never able to. I recently found out that there was supposed to be another verse to this song, the whistling solo was supposed to be filled in with words. Unfortunaly, Redding never had a chance to fill the words, he died before he could do it. The record company left the whistling solo in the song.

Just like Buddy Holly- one of the most influential men in the world of music; the pioneer of rock'n'roll; leading to the Beatles and the likes..He achieved all of this after only a very short life- such INCREDIBLE talent, died in a plane crash that should never have happened.Very similar story to this great musician.RIP both..

Otis Ray Redding, Jr. (September 9, 1941 December 10, 1967) was an American soul singer. According to the website of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (where he was inducted in 1989), Redding's name is "synonymous with the term soul, music that arose out of the black experience in America through the transmutation of gospel and rhythm and blues into a form of funky, secular testifying
