it is still possible to enjoy this song live with Rod. The Zombies are touring again for several years now and always play this Hold Your Head Up. Singer is Colin Blunstone and on bass guitas is the good old Jim Rodford. There are a few video's at You Tube, ckeck it out!!!

After The Zombies split, he went on to form Argent, who had a hit album in 1972 with All Together Now, which contained the single "Hold Your Head Up". They also recorded the original version of the rock anthem "God Gave Rock and Roll to You", written by lead singer Russ Ballard which was later covered by Kiss. Argent's first album included the song, "Liar" (also composed by Ballard) which became a hit for Three Dog Night.

Ah but Hendrix was an American whereas Rod Argent is English so maybe think he is taking the piss

Strange...I like the Ramones but also like this. Must have something to do with bands doing what they like and not give a damn 'bout what other people think. Not like average accountant pop and rock (you know who you are)

i have always loved this song: great riff & lyrics! as for sounding like ELP, keyboard technology at the time was Hammond(sp?) B series organs & premidi/analog synths, hard not to sound similar.the people who complain about pretense in progrock are often the same who say the blues all sound the same but ask them if they think RUSH sounds like GENESIS (with PG) or Robert Johnson sounds like Howlin' Wolf or Bach like Beethoven and them can't give a cogent answer! must be too many notes...

Gosh this brings back great memories... I don't think they sound like ELP much and I don't believe in all that pretentious CRAP about bands like Rush, ELP... |
