don't be so sure, the Samurais greatest fear on a battlefield was peasants with bamboo spears if they were many and confident. Compare that with the greatest spearmen on the face of the planet, and you may have your army of peasants.Spears are longer than swords, shields protect the spearman, and spartans used swords as well. The spartan has a fair chance in any scenario.

The only reason the Romans conquered more territory than the Spartans was for they had the manpower,Rome alone had a population of nearly half a million, Sparta's army barely could muster 10,000 men when at their zenith of power

spartan soldiers were at their best in phalanx formation. their trainging was never based on solo combat. an army of spartans would destroy a lightly armored samurai army. in one on one combat, the story would be much different.

i'm sry i never knew the spartans had gyms(haha)...nor that they killed theyr soldiers if they came home dishonored.scratch that,they didnt kill them they marginalised them.distorted history doesnt do much but dumb you down.

Spartans were the best warriors..From the age of 12 kids were trainning to gym and fighting.ALl their life they were fighting..If they loose a battle and someone were back alive they were killing him..They were saying:Or you will ruturn with your shield or down of it{dead}
