The most important factor will probably be China in that region - I think Russia is just sneaking in behind China or doing the reverse moving in first and China sneaking behind while China has the real backstab power.

Agreed. However the days of fighting wars with standing armies, tanks, planes etc are over. Guerilla warfare is the name of the game and the Afghans are experts in this field. They have been doing it for centuries.

Russia is coming back. Despite what anyone in the 'west' might say oil and natural gas energy are the future and demand will only increase drastically as the world grows. Russia has plenty of both most especially in gas-Russia is a nat gas superpower and so Russia will continue to strengthen.Russia has all the tech anyone else has and more from being a victor in ww2 so as Russian economy strengthens Russia might will be considerable as well. So being friends with Russia is not a bad idea. |
