This sounds perverse, but one of the most exciting sounds of the period was a Lancia S4 doing about 10mph in a service area: bangs, coughs, squeals, hisses: truly a caged animal!!!

Surely the greatest era in motorsport. Would be fun just to see Rohrl, Mikkola, Salonen, Kankkunen and co let loose in those cars now: they'd still run rings around the kids of today!! As for the lack of music, I couldn't agree more. Competition cars a a TOTAL experience, including the music (made by the engine/gearbox, not some stupid band)...

I agee wholeheartedly. There is mothing more infuriating than a video of beautiful screaming cars that some fuckn fag ruins with horrible godawful techno music. Thats one of my major pet peeves as you can see.
