In such an opera one really puts to test his vocal technique. No tricks help here. Only a solid technique. I love this baroque staging :)

Actually what I mean is Farnace shown in any of these clips? I know he is shown in the last one with all of them, but which one is he? Is he the one on the far left, the one in peach bending down by Mitridate, or the one in the middle left of Asapia?

I can kind of see why this type of production is not done in America. I think that an only 6 principal cast would be boring for an American audience. Plus, Mozart was only 14 when he composed this. I do like how Gosta Winberg sort of plays to the camera at the end aria of act one where he realizes that his son has betrayed him with Aspasia.

Mozart was just 14 years old when he composed this masterpiece. It's full of wisdom -- and beautiful arias! For me this combination is just unbelievable. I'm sure this opera will be more known in the future, and Internet is not the worst media to make it popular. The performance is just great. In addition to the staging there are great soloists as well as the Concentus Musicus Wien, conducted by one of the best, Nikolaus Harnoncourt.

I just bought a copy of this DVD, where these excerpts are from. Thank you very much of this potpourri, which makes this production better known. The film is just great as usual when the director is called Jean Pierre Ponnelle! I try to get all of his films and recordings on staging. Unfortunately also he died so young, like Mozart did, just too young.

I believe she is his fiance. Farnace wants Aspasia and dumps his Ismena; Aspasia really likes Sifare as he does her.

Farnace is the one thrown in the dungeon at the end of act 2 for betraying his father to his Roman enemy. To make it easier, Farnace is the one with the deeper singing voice. The only thing that is not clear to me is what is Aspasia to Mitridate. Is she is fiance, wife, girlfriend?

could somebody help me? I have been trying to figure out which one is Farnace. I know who is Sifare and Aspaspia and Mitridate. Ismene is the one in white at the end, right? The one in peach is who I do not know and I am not sure if it is Arbate or Farnace. Thanks!
