Well no one really knows exactly what happened (Alig included - heroin steals memories) but he and Riggs said it was self defense. That's most likely true, they just went waaaay too far. However, dismembering the body and dumping it pretty much makes it murder as that's a premeditated act. If they had confessed right after they killed him they would have had a good chance of staying out of prison. Drugs clouded their judgment.. Alig thought he was untouchable. Shame.

trashy drug dealer or not.. he still murdered someone. and he wasn't murdering him because he thought it would 'better society' he was murdering him over a DRUG DEBT. he is wrong for killing someone and he is wrong for showing no remorse. end of fucking story.

he should be in jail for life - killing someone and getting only 10-20 yrs isn't good enough. in my opinion, if you take away someone elses life then you dont deserve yours.

It was just some trashy drug dealer, not some prominent person or school teacher. Even the cops didn't care, they only had to make an arrest after his blatant written confession.
