The Uzebox is a homebrew game console made out of resistors and only two chips: an ATmega644 and an AD725 RGB-to-NTSC converter. This video demonstrates the system kernel's four channels wavetable-based "synthesizer" and the MIDI interface that allows composition of music straight on the console. Important disclaimer: Since I'm a lousy chiptune composer, all songs are transcriptions of 8-bit gaming classics! Hope they bring your back fond memories. :)Everything is open source and open hardware, see the site for sources, schematics and have a look at the forums for updates (fully assembled Uzebox soon available in well know web shops!). Look for my other Uzebox videos and please rate if you liked it! http://belogic.com/uzebox

Great stuff!

The Uzebox currently has only MIDI IN. One could easily write a retro-looking 8-bit sequencer and output MIDI out and control their own keyboards...wouldn't that be awesome?!? A professional firm has decided to produce fully assembled Uzebox boards for under 80$, so stay tuned. Have a look at the site and the forums to see when its available!Cheers!

What type of MIDI keyboards can the MIDI output can work with? I may composed my own songs with this! Good work!

It accepts notes, patch change and controllers. Though I have only coded the Expression CC and modulation so far.

Does the synth accept midi cc commands for parameter control, or is it note only?

Thanks, I took a shortcut for the song...I used a nsf-to-midi converter, and tweaked it a bit to use my instruments. Thats why it sound just as the original. The sequencer is Sonar.
