How about the mercury from the coal in your lakes? Yes I know Bovina people don't eat fish, just the now expensive beef while driving their SUVs fueled with food product. The rich folks don't like their pretty places messed up by saving the planet. Angelica is where part of New York dumps their garbage and the dump operator Casella does not contain it. the whole purpose of the wind turbines is to get the pollution out of the air and in doing so you make a healthy enviroment for all species including humans. who cares if a few birds are killed in the proses.

I have spent much time in Bovina, at Suits-Us farm. Beautiful rolling hills, farms - I suspect that the area feels (rightfully) that they do not create as much global warming as large towns and cities, and need not switch to alternatives - that is a guess. Perhaps, WindIsNotGreen, you could tell us the reasons (pro and con) for the decision. Thanks.

Yes to "yes to wind". A slight whooshing that replaces greenhouse gases or maybe nuclear power? Does anyone have doubts? I guess so... they do have doubts for now. But not for long, I hope. One area not mentioned: do the blades at that speed still pose a risk for birds?

The Bovina Town Board banned wind turbines from this scenic Catskill town. Bovina is the first town in the Catskills to take a clear position against industrial wind development. The Bovina vote follows a twelve-month moratorium during which residents made their views known to town officials through open meetings sponsored by the board, hundreds of letters, a town survey, a petition, and a poll sponsored by industrial wind opponents. The vote was three in favor of a ban, one opposed.
