> Nah, the 80's were much more camp! at least> the 70's bands wern't effiminate, most where> just aving a great time and still very manly! What? Like the Village People? The boomer generation was nothing more than an entire generation of fashion victims. They were faddish materialists who screamed to end the Vietnam war and in 2002 wanted to turn Iraq into a glass desert. The 80's was just the remnants of trash from the 70s. It took until the 1990s before music started to be made again.

If you listen closely enough you can clearly hear him say Grrooosss so it just takes a discerning ear to pick it out. Thanks for the info though, never knew that!

> the beginning is like ttl GAY! It was the 70's.Everything looked gay. It was the most tasteless decade ever seen on Earth. From leisure suits, to men with mustaches with open shirts and giant gold medallions.

A misconception of this song is following the title line, Jeff Lynne shouts "Bruce!" According to liner notes, he is actually saying a made-up word "Grroosss". This is similar to a German word for "greeting", Gruß possibly referring to the Bavarian greeting Grüß Gott the group would have heard while recording the album in Munich. After the song's release, so many people had misinterpreted the word as Bruce that Jeff Lynne actually began to sing the word as Bruce at live shows |
