I am sure you know much more German words, for Example "Menschen", "Achtung", "Los!","Herr Hauptmann","Himmel!"...And my father (major surgeon) could say a whole sentence in English:" We will not torture you, we will torture your little sister, you Schweinehund!" But the war is over and we wish A Happy New Year one another; we are lucky guys!

Of course there are nice guys and bad in all countries - but history makes little allowance for this. Nazi Germany is a collective term, reflecting the willing - and in many cases unwilling - support of the German people for the regime.The lads on the Bismarck sailed under the flag of that regime - and their bravery and sacrifice is ,unfortunately, tainted by association.There are assholes on here, no doubt.But hey, out with the old - Glückliches Neujahr robin, in my broken German.

I won't fall robin and if I'd really do, I'd stand up immediately! I wish you the best for 2009 aswell and keep checking my channel for new videos hehe. Maybe it's a little surprise for you, but I'm currently working on a 3rd Bismarck tribute video; a closer look on the sinking.Then my tribute to the Bismarck should be clear; never seen a guy with 3 videos about this legendary battleship.

Of course, the real stupid people would attempt to brush it under the carpet. Well done.I think you're quite right, and I never disputed that. In this thread, or another about the Bismarck, I said the exact same thing. It would have been a difficult, if not fatal, choice to not fight.However, having made that choice you must live with the consequences. If I'd fought in support of the Nazi regime then, by extension, I had fought for the ideology as much as the vagaries of nationalism.
