I have the whole movie on my computer as well as the Magnificent Ambersons. Both are in avi format but I have no clue as how to upload the entire four hour (restored) movie. If someone could tell me how to break the movie into parts and then covert it to the format they use on youtube i'm sure I could then upload it for anyone interested in seeing it without having to wait for it to come on DVD or shell out lots of money for the videotapes on ebay.

yes we agree the crimes of Thalberg and MGM ..........But if Strocheim spended 3 millions dollars in .20 and the income was infime for the company..............eh! its a little? problem......probably this kind of legend open the now television week- drama serials ..........

It's true that the original 9 1/2 hour is lost? What a tragedy indeed. I had thought it was locked somewhere and just not shown because of its length and because most people today have no attention spans, the studios felt people would have no interest for it.

GREED is one of my favorite films. Hope THERE WILL BE BLOOD pays good homage to it!

Just four years after the slashes on von Stroheim's monumental masterpiece, the "industry" did the same at Germany with Lang's "Metropolis". Meanwhile, at England, Hitchcock's little gem "The Lodger" would have been dumped were it not for a stroke of good luck. And we could go on and on and on... How could (and still can) be possible these... crimes against Art?!

There's some debate as to whether the 9 1/2 hour cut reflected Stroheim's intentions or whether it was just a glorified assembly (my guess is the truth lies somewhere between).I just hope, when the 4 hour Turner Entertainment 'reconstruction' is finally issued on DVD, they decide to include the 1924 release version of 'Greed', which is too underrated by those who dream (justifiably) of that mythic marathon cut only a handful of people got to see.Btw, good luck on the filmmaking!
