Hey moparcudaman,That's right, Figari, not Ferari. Thx for the info. Yes, he was real good! Not as good as DD, but good. He gave me a ride a couple times, on one wheel mostly, ha. I remember he got seriously hurt one time though. Was cool to google him and see his car and what he's been up to with the American Graffiti stuff.I wonder if I know you? My name is Richard. I grew up on 10th Ave at Quintara. Went to Hoover around 78 & McAteer about 79-82.Take Care.

I remember the guy you are talking about. I also grew up in san francisco. The guys name was Rick Figari. he was friends with my neighbor. He did amazing things on a yamaha and a honda, (actually any bike). one of the best i ever saw. Back then, nobody was doing wheelies like that.

I just watched again and couldn't help but ad more to my previous comment. Coming down the hill he "suddenly" runs into 2 car obstacles, LOL. The 2nd is my favorite, ala CHiPs special effects, ramp almost out of screen, but not quite, LOL. Don't get me wrong, he was the KING :). Just a little cheesy with the 2 car set up coming back down.

I saw him at the cow palace once as a kid, he was on a big street bike, he was amazing. Those were the days. I use to wheelie my Yamaha DT175 and my dads 79' Honda XL500 some in San Francisco growing up. Start down around 9th and Judah and take it up hill to home. Put it in 2nd gear, pop the clutch, and use the throttle and brake... could wheelie blocks no problem. Back then, there was this guy, Rich Ferari... don't know what happened him, but wow he was really good too, locally anyways.

Doug was a great guy, a good friend for over twenty years who died in a fatal ultralight accident a few years ago. He never had to practice his wheelies. Doug just did it. He had a real gift. Those who knew him really miss him.

Thats the pioneer of bike stunts today, :) Deffently set a new era of limits for bikes. even to this day there still is people that are pros that cant beat him

the san franciscans hate this hollywood, self-promotional shit, look at them on their balconies!got, greek ingenuity! (did you ever see the blooper from this episods of "THAT'S INCREDIBLE!" where he wrecked his bike right in the studio several times trying to wheelie up on stage? it's out there! i confess, i can't wheelie anything like this, but somehow i still survive. (i do love a good KX, though.)
jasonski (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
i agree, he really is the wheelie king...

Inspired me when I was a kid...would love to see him on the Z13 like in his book !... he was simply "THE BEST !"
