GTRMAN, You miss my point. We are not talking about a few rotten apples in the organisation. We are talking about an organisation ORDERING this, shifting the blame downwards and the soldiers just obeying commands. Can you serve with hounour, working for an organisation that tortures people? They were wrong, those few, and have been held accountable whether or not they accept responsibility for their poor judgement... but you are wrong to generalize. There are many of us who have courage, and served over there with honor. I spent time in that prison, and never treated a detainee in a disrespectful manner. There is much you do not know. When mortars fell, I didn't give a damn about some politicians clique.

Gtrman, the veteran is told was defending rights. But every soldier in every war is told that story. And the soldiers want to live in a world were they do good. The reality is that the US soldiers are not in Iraq to defend anybody's rights, but the interests of the Bush clique. Morally good would have been not to obey orders(from a criminal) that go against (inter)national law. But that takes real courage.
