Lindo, incrivel, John Prine em Portugal, já!

Like alot of folks, I initially though it was a Prine tune from the beauty/simplicity of this song. I just saw John live for the first time last night after being a fan since little kid when my dad would play his tapes. One of the best living singer/songwriters (he had his voice BACK!!!) out there right now, and I dare say he could teach Dylan a thing or two at times.

We had a guy here in Canada named Stan Rogers who did a style of music from the maritimes, which was neither scotish nor irish, it was just from Novascotia, Canadian. (?)

wow! I never comment on these things...but I have to here. Foley is great...but you can't compare him to Prine...in any way. It is Foley's song...so it is his. But Prine has a library of amazingly heartfelt, poetic, sentimental songs, and as much as I like Foley, there is really no comparison.

Everyone commenting on how this is their favorite Prine song needs to go and check out the real deal. Blaze Foley was far better than John Prine and I love John Prine. Especially for giving Blaze some credit. If you think this is good then go and listen to Blaze's version. More heartfelt because he wrote it. Blaze was a Messiah. And I'll forgive Prine for not getting all of the words right but just this once.

Blaze Foley was like Townes only less known than even Townes for his music. This is a great song of his. It just doesn't get much better than this!
