Bob Clampett used it in his other gremlin cartoon 'Falling Hare' (also here on YouTube) - A sabotaged bomber containing Bugs Bunny and a gremlin is careening to earth...mere inches from the ground it grinds to a midair halt. The gremlin moans to us "Out of gas!" Bugs gestures to the windshield and says "You know how it is with these "a" cards!"

Using Wikipedia as a source, mind you - gremlins are a pretty recent phenomenon, specifically causing damage to aircraft (and motorcycles too). First reported in the 1920s, but becoming more widespread among WWII British aviators. Roald Dahl, an ex-airman himself, popularized them by writing 'The Gremlins', which Disney had planned to make into a film but didn't...would've been interesting.
