I also like the bass, in fact I would go so far to say that the piece would be lacking without the walk down the E string, it just seems in this recording on occasion to be a little twangy, which I don't think would be the result of an EQ/pre-amp setting at all. It's only in like 3-4 places where the piece builds and that low note needs to be louder, but it still twangs to much for what I personally would care for in a lullaby. That being said I think it is a lovely piece of music.

I would agree that his style is excellent and unique, where did I ever say he was bad? In fact I recall, oh yes allow your eyes to glance up for a moment and read me saying "I love it". And forgive me for being traditional in my theory, it was how I was taught... but your post was rude and uncalled for.

Good point taktarsri. I think it's funny how a fellow musicians comments get voted negative simply because he was trying to help. For all I know it could've been the recording and not his guitar playing at all. It was just a personal observation in saying that I don't think the twang necessarily fits within the lullaby genre.

I like the extra bass. With the loose E it fits. (I think) He makes his own guitars so he's likely a "tone freak" and the EQ/Pre-amp/mix whatever you want to call it, is likely no accident or on a "generic" setting.Could listen to this all day through laptop speaker, good monitors, or headphones all the same!

I did agree that the bass is a little harsh at points, not all the time, but this is why music is an art, to each their own taste =)

I love it, but Peter if you're reading I think the bass is bit harsh on the low E (or whatever you have it tuned to). It's definitely important, but with the guitar that you make it has plenty of low end... so a little bit of bass goes a long way in a lullaby. Just the way I would play it as a musician, but the writing is masterful! |
