Because the Korean changed some techniques to make difference from Kendo to avoid being claimed copy. But the fact is, iKumdo is a copy Kendo.Look at Kumdo uniform and bogu and shinai. They are exact copy of Kendo.

This guy's speed and strikes are just right on. It's amazing how he can do this at his age, it beyond amazing.

Indeed. And they all have the "Kyoshi"(=medium master) title. I don't know which one he has, but he was 82 years old back then...

No, it's not an eximation, they are never done in public like that. It is a demonstration. You don't become 9th Dan just like that anyway since it sort of doesn't exist anymore. If you're actually given that grade then it means A LOT.

I'm not going to argue about that, but Kumdo and Kendo have similar techniques, but are not the same thing.

Kumdo is Korean pronunciation of Kendo. 剣道

It's an interim during the 50th All Japan Kendo Championship but probably this video was taken from a Korean broadcast of the event.
tomateradio (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
What's with the korean at the beginning? Is this Kendo or Kumdo?
